Sculpture starts out with choosing the perfect block of stone. The process is thrilling.....You may start out with a concept, but then the shape of the raw stone guides you in a completely different direction.
“The sculpture is already complete within the marble block, before I start my work. It is already there, I just have to chisel away the superfluous material.” — Michelangelo
“The tortured soul of an artist. There is no off button of the mind. Thoughts and images present themselves day and night. Books of sketches are never filled, and only time limits the direction of the fortunate sculpture that emerges as your creation, but it will never be perfect as you hoped”
